Beauty of Joseon is a wildly popular Korean skincare brand founded in 2016 by Hyemin Park. It blends centuries-old traditional Korean herbal medicine (Hanbang) with modern dermatological science. Inspired by a 19th-century beauty encyclopedia, the brand focuses on gentle, nature-derived ingredients to achieve luminous, healthy skin.

The Heritage

• The Inspiration: The brand draws directly from the Gyuhap Chongseo, an encyclopedia written by female scholar Yi Bingheogak during the Joseon Dynasty. It documented how Joseon-era noblewomen used natural ingredients like rice bran, ginseng, and honey for skincare.á
• What is Hanbang? Hanbang is traditional Korean herbal medicine that emphasizes whole-body well-being. Beauty of Joseon extracts the wisdom of these botanical ingredients and reinvents them using lab-backed, modern formulations.

Core Ingredients

The brand highlights several staple ingredients directly inspired by its historical muse:

• Ginseng: Long revered in Korean culture, it helps revitalize dull skin and improve elasticity.
• Rice Bran Water: A Joseon-era staple packed with amino acids and vitamins to deeply hydrate and brighten the complexion.
• Propolis & Green Tea: Ingredients prized for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, perfect for soothing sensitive skin.á
